Hotel Internship in France
The Program:
Studens of Hotel/Catering/Tourism in the European Union between 18 and 25 can participate in the hotel internship in france. Specialization and frenchskills (B2) are premises.
Projectstites:
The intern will work in hotels (hotelchain, independent hotel, hotel/restaurant) anywhere in france. (Aix-en-Provence, Lyon, Nice, St. Véran etc...)
Tasks:
The interns will be working in e.g. following fields:
- Kitchen
- Reception
- Cleaning
- Waiter
Board and Accomodation:
In general the hotel provides board and accomodation for the intern.
Working conditions:
The interns work full time. In general between 39 and 42 hours per week. About 8 hours per day. Sometimes in shifts (e.g. 9:00 - 14:00 h and 19:00 - 22:00 h) or in one peace (e.g. 8:00 - 16:00 h) Two days per week are off. (not necessarily successive days. Some hotels grant an allowance of approx. 35 Euro per week. This is not a salary. The hoteldirector may decide to grant more. In any case friendlyness flexibility and motivation will be required. The hotel internship is a respected career path in France and not a mere student job.
Requirements:
- Studying Hotel/Catering/Tourism in the European Union
- Between 18 and 25 years of age
- liability insurance, that is valid during the stay in france (check with insurance)
- European health insurance, that is valid during the stay in france (may also be booked through our partner)
- French skills (B2)
- Flexibility, Friendlyness, Ability to work in a team, Commitment and Reliability
Application procedure:
1. Application forms (minimum 8 weeks before begin of internship):
- certificate of enrollment in the field of Hotel/Catering/Tourism in the European Union
- CV in french
- European health insurance that is valid during the stay in france
- Letter of motivation in french
- ID Foto
- The filled in applicationform
- Two letters of recommendation of former employers, teachers (in french, english, german or spanish)
- A deposit of 200 Euro has to be payed (will be reimbursed in the case of non placement)
2. Telephone interview in french:
In order to get to know you and your level of french.
3. Contract and Payment (Minimum 4 weeks before the begin of the internship):
The placement will only be confirmed after the payment. Flights and further arrangements should thus be made afterwards. Along with the confirmation other useful information will be passed on to the intern.
A sucsessful placing can not be guaranteed.
Acknowledgement:
Many students may be able to get this program recognized for their studies or as an internship. (This should be discussed with the professor before leaving.)
In any case a certificate can be issued.
Airport/Trainstation:
Depends on the project site.
The transport must be organized by the participant.
Startdates:
Throughout the year. (Duration 3 or 6 months)
