USA Nationalparcs: ICVE Nevada
The program:
The philosophy behind ICVE is that common engagement for the environment connect likeminded volunteers from all countries, thereby encouraging international friendships as well as international environmental protection.
Project sites:
Most projects are situated in the Lake Tahoe Basin and the Great Basin area
at Nevada in the west of the USA.
Tasks:
The volunteers will work in different sectors:
- trail maintenance and construction
- forest fuels Reduction
- exotic species eradication
- nature surveys
- arid land, fire and riparian restoration
Board and Lodging:
All volunteers will receive free lodging for the whole duration of the program.
- In the Basecamp in Reno near the University of Nevada (Computer and Library acces) in ICVE owned Houses with internet, kitchen and laundry facilities.
During this time food vouchers will be distributed.
- On the projects in tents
during this time the volunteers will prepare their own food in their groups.
Equipment:
required:
- Backpack
- Sleepingbag
- Sleepingpad
- Minimum two waterbottles
- Workingboots (suited for long hikes)
- Raingear
(Some of these items might be cheaper in the USA)
supplied by ICVE:
- Tent (150,- USD deposit) - Workingpants and shirts - - Protective gear (helmet, gloves, earplugs, protective glasses)
recommended:
- Sunglasses
- Sunhat
- Alarm clock
- Clothing for every kind of weather
Requirements:
- Minimum age 18 years
- The orientation and security briefing on the first program day are compulsory!
- When in the country for more than 90 days: Visa
- biometric passport
- Health insurance during the whole stay
- Englishskills
- Ability to work in a team
Acknowledgement:
Many students (e.g. of geology or forestry) may get this program recognized for their studies or as an internship. (This should be discussed with the professor before leaving.)
In any case a certificate can be issued.
Airport:
- In the Summermonths Reno
- In the Wintermonths Las Vegas (check before booking!)
The flight must be organized by the participant.
Start dates 09:
July 08. - August 28.; (Minimum duration 7 weeks)
August 26.- November 06.; (Minimum duration 10 weeks)
November 06.- January 01; (Minimum duration 8 weeks)

The Price for the program is 350,- Euro total, even if the minimum duration will be exceeded.
